About us
A team of scientists, working for the good of commodity markets.
Mission
Commodity industry rules the world. We measure its economic and environmental performance for the good of competitiveness and sustainability.
The physical economy — steel, metals, cement, energy — is measured today by the companies inside it, and reported on their schedule. Markets, lenders and regulators then make consequential decisions on those numbers.
An independent measurement of what industrial assets actually produce and emit should exist: not an estimate assembled from disclosure, but a physical observation.
CO₂ is one of the hardest molecules to monitor. Yet it is the universal signal of industrial activity, and one of the defining challenges of this century as the climate destabilises. That is why we set out to measure it from space.
That is a long programme. It is why the company is funded as a space venture and sold as a data platform: the instrument takes years, the measurement is useful now.
Why CO₂, and why our own satellite.
Why CO₂
Every blast furnace, smelter and kiln emits it. A direct CO₂ reading tells you how much a plant produces and how much it emits — one signal, two answers.
Our own satellite, planned for 2029
A dedicated instrument to measure CO₂ plant by plant, giving QAIrbon proprietary data no one else has. Until it flies, our CO₂ figures are estimated from measured production.
Backed by ESA, CNES and France 2030
Our research is supported by the European Space Agency, the French space agency CNES and the France 2030 investment plan.
The team
Founded in 2024, QAIrbon is a team of passionate scientists and engineers reading the physical industrial world like an open book — from space.
